Market Spotlight ![Which DFW Farmers Markets Are Producer-Only and Open on Sundays?](https://images.unsplash.com/photo-1675346980561-66d6231f8bf7?auto=format&fit=crop&w=1600&q=80) Two: [Fair Park Farmers Market](/markets/fair-park-farmers-market) and [Tietze Park Farmers Market](/markets/tietze-park-farmers-market), both in Dallas, both Sunday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. That is the complete answer from what the markets themselves publish, and there is a catch worth knowing before you plan around it. \## Why the list is this short Eleven of the fifty-seven markets in our directory are open on a Sunday. Twenty-two markets have been researched first-hand for sourcing policy. Seven of those twenty-two state producer-only or its substance in writing, and because three of the seven share a single operator, that is five independent statements. Most of them are Saturday markets. Cross the two lists and you get Fair Park and Tietze Park. Both are operated by Good Local Markets, a nonprofit that also runs the Saturday-only [White Rock Farmers Market](/markets/white-rock-farmers-market). That matters for how much independent evidence you actually have: the policy is written once, as a single statement covering "our markets," and it reads, "Our farmers markets are producer-only which means that all the farmers at our market actually are local farmers who come from a 150 mile radius of the market. We do not allow resellers or distributors at our market." The operator also states that its staff visits each farm to confirm vendors grow what they sell. So the truthful framing is not "two markets independently verified." It is one operator's published rule, applied to two Sunday locations. \## The seasons barely overlap Neither market runs all year, and their calendars are close to complementary. Fair Park Farmers Market runs Sundays from early March through late December at 3535 Grand Ave, and Good Local Markets states it is closed during the State Fair, which takes the market out for a stretch of late September and October. Tietze Park Farmers Market runs Sundays at 2700 Skillman St starting in late September and finishing in late December. Read together, that means Fair Park carries spring and summer on its own, Tietze picks up in the fall, and the two overlap only in the closing weeks of the year. From January through February, neither one is open, and there is no producer-only Sunday market in our data at all. \## What about the other Sunday markets? None of them is disqualified. They simply have not published a sourcing rule, which is a different thing from failing one. [Dallas Farmers Market](/markets/dallas-farmers-market-the-shed) is open Sundays year-round at The Shed and makes no producer-only claim anywhere on its site. The only no-resellers language there belongs to M.A.D.E. Dallas, a separate handmade-goods market. The Shed describes "farmers from within 400 miles away," which is a wider radius than the 150 miles used by the markets in the short list. [Frisco Fresh Market](/markets/frisco-fresh-market) is open Sundays year-round and states that it has a rules book, but keeps it behind a vendor login: "All approved vendors will also have access to the most updated version of the Rules and Regulation from the Vendor Portal." Unpublished, not absent. [Carrollton Artisans Market](/markets/carrollton-artisans-market) and [Four Seasons Market at Flower Mound](/markets/four-seasons-market-flower-mound) are run by Four Seasons Markets, whose vendor rules we have not been able to read. Same status for [Crowley Market on Main](/markets/crowley-market-on-main), open Sundays March through October, and the seasonal [Farmers Market at Firewheel](/markets/farmers-market-at-firewheel) in Garland, open both weekend days from mid-May through the end of August. No published policy either way. Two Sunday listings are retail businesses rather than stall markets, so the question does not apply in the usual sense. [Farmers Market of Grapevine](/markets/farmers-market-of-grapevine) is a produce store that buys from growers and resells by design, and says so plainly. [Wylie Urban Farm & Market](/markets/wylie-urban-farm-market) is a bricks-and-mortar market and co-op stocking other producers' goods. \## What to do about the unknowns If producer-only matters to you, the check takes one minute at the market. Ask a vendor which farm grew a specific item and where that farm is. Ask the market manager whether the market has written vendor rules and whether they are public. At markets that allow resale, well-run ones require booth signage naming the outside farm, so look for that sign. You can also treat Saturday as the wider field. Most of the DFW markets with a published producer-only rule, including Cowtown, Coppell, Denton and Saint Michael's, operate on Saturday mornings.
