It exists because the schedules are harder than they look, the vendor rules are not what most shoppers assume, and nobody was writing down which listings we could not confirm. \## What is in here Forty-one of the 57 listings show a Saturday. Eleven show a Sunday. Four show a Friday. Six are open on more than one day, and nine publish no hours at all, which is left blank on the listing rather than filled in with a plausible guess. Cadence varies more than day of week does. Some markets run weekly. Some run on the first and third Saturday, like [Azle Farmers Market](/markets/azle-farmers-market). Some run on one Saturday a month, like [Duncan Switch Street Market](/markets/duncan-switch-street-market). [Cottage Farmers Market](/markets/cottage-farmers-market) in Allen holds six dates a year across March, April, May, September, October and November, skipping the summer entirely, so calling it monthly would be wrong. [Coppell Farmers Market](/markets/coppell-farmers-market) is weekly for most of the year and drops to the second and fourth Saturday in the winter months. Evening markets are their own category. [Celina Friday Night Market](/markets/celina-friday-night-market) runs Friday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. [Moonlight Market on W. Houston](/markets/moonlight-market-on-w-houston) in Sherman runs the second and fourth Friday evening and adds a second location on the Grayson County courthouse lawn in the fall. [Downtown Mesquite Farmers Market](/markets/downtown-mesquite-farmers-market) switches to a summer night market from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Hours also move with the season inside a single market. [McKinney Farmers Market at Chestnut Sq.](/markets/mckinney-farmers-market-at-chestnut-sq) opens at 8:00 AM from April through December and at 9:00 AM from January through March. [The Clearfork Farmers Market](/markets/the-clearfork-farmers-market) shortens to 9:00 AM to noon in winter. An old bookmark will not tell you that. \## We publish what we could not confirm Several listings carry an explicit warning, and those warnings are the point of the directory rather than an embarrassment in it. [Colleyville Farmers Market](/markets/colleyville-farmers-market) has no live dated calendar entry we could find, and a separate, unrelated market using a similar name at a different address is confirmed closed, which is a good way to drive to the wrong place. [Watauga Farmers Market](/markets/watauga-farmers-market) has no confirmation for the current season; the schedule repeated across secondary sources is unverified. [Terrell Heritage Market](/markets/terrell-heritage-market) is listed elsewhere as a third Saturday market, but the only concrete date we found fell on a Friday. [Fort Worth Community Market](/markets/fort-worth-community-market) has a market-owned domain that is a dead placeholder page. [Cleburne Farmer's Market](/markets/cleburne-farmers-market) reads like a relaunch rather than a continuation. Marketplace on the Square in Garland is also at risk from a downtown square redevelopment. Where a listing says call first, call first. That is a real instruction, not boilerplate. \## Farmers market does not mean the seller grew it The most common assumption in this category is the one worth checking. Across the markets whose own rules and vendor pages we have read line by line, several distinct postures show up, and only some of them are producer only. A few state it flatly. [Cowtown Farmers Market](/markets/cowtown-farmers-market) and [Denton Community Market](/markets/denton-community-market) do, and Good Local Markets states it for [White Rock Farmers Market](/markets/white-rock-farmers-market) and its two sibling markets in one piece of operator copy, which is one statement covering three listings rather than three independent ones. Coppell states it with a documented, disclosed exception path. Others publish the opposite. McKinney at Chestnut Square allows up to 40 percent of farm raised products to be acquired from other local farms, with the source farm named on booth signage. Keller and Saginaw share one vendor handbook that permits non vendor grown product with origin labeling. [Dallas Farmers Market (The Shed)](/markets/dallas-farmers-market-the-shed) makes no producer only claim at all and states a 400 mile sourcing radius, the widest we have recorded. Nine of the markets we researched say nothing either way. Silence is not a no, and we do not score it as one. \## Three listings are not farmers markets By their own descriptions, [Downtown Forney Market](/markets/downtown-forney-market) sells artisan made crafts, the [Grapevine Artisans Market](/markets/grapevine-farmers-artisans-market) page names handcrafted goods with no food component, and [the Stockyards market](/markets/the-stockyards-farmers-market) in Fort Worth describes handmade goods, boutique shopping and artisan foods with no mention of produce, farmers or growers. All three stay in the directory, labeled for what they are. \## How to use it Browse by city if you know where you are, or filter the main directory by day if you are flexible about the morning. Distances are measured from DFW Airport as a rough center point for the metroplex. If you find something wrong, tell us.
