Most Dallas-Fort Worth farmers markets run a four hour morning block. The two most common shapes are 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and between them they account for roughly six in ten of the Saturday markets in this directory. If you know nothing else about a market you have not visited, assume it opens between 8:00 and 10:00 in the morning and is packing up by early afternoon.
That is the pattern. The exceptions are worth knowing, because a few of these markets run all day and a handful do not open until evening.
## The dominant Saturday blocks
Of the 41 Saturday markets here, fourteen run exactly 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM: Azle, Cleburne, Coppell, Saint Michael's in Dallas, White Rock in Dallas, Bluebonnet in Ennis, The Clearfork in Fort Worth, Keller, Lake Worth, Lucas, Mansfield, Rockwall, Saginaw and Cowtown in White Settlement. Two more run that same block with seasonal exceptions, Mabank and McKinney at Chestnut Square.
Ten run 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM: Downtown Arlington, Cedar Hill, Denton Community Market, Kaufman County, Four Seasons Market at Castle Hills, Downtown Mesquite, Midlothian, Sachse, Watauga and Wylie.
If you want one rule of thumb, it is this. Go early. The eight o'clock markets are the ones with the most produce vendors, and produce vendors sell out.
## The all day markets
A smaller group runs well past lunch, and these are the ones worth knowing if your morning is already spoken for.
- Farmers Market of Grapevine is the longest day on the list, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Friday and Saturday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Sunday - Wylie Urban Farm & Market runs 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Sunday - Dallas Farmers Market (The Shed) runs 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday and 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Sunday - Frisco Fresh Market runs 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Saturday and 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Sunday - Farmers Market at Firewheel in Garland runs 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM both weekend days - Downtown Forney Market (artisan market) runs 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
## The evening and night markets
Four markets in the directory do not open until the evening, which puts them in a different category entirely. They are closer to a night market or a street festival than a morning produce run.
- Celina Friday Night Market, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, first Friday - Moonlight Market on W. Houston in Sherman, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, second and fourth Friday - Stockyards Night Market (artisan market) in Fort Worth, 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, third Saturday - Funky Foundry Market in Fort Worth, 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM, monthly, though the day of week is reported inconsistently and is worth confirming
Two daytime markets also switch to evening hours in summer. Downtown Mesquite runs 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM in spring and fall but moves to 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM summer night markets. The Urban Market in Garland runs a 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM night market in July and August.
## Hours that shift with the season
This is the part most listings get wrong, because they publish one set of hours and leave it there. Several DFW markets deliberately change their hours through the year, usually to work around heat or short winter days.
- Downtown Arlington lists 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM in summer and 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM otherwise - The Clearfork Farmers Market shortens to 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in winter - McKinney at Chestnut Square opens at 9:00 AM January through March and at 8:00 AM April through December - Grapevine Farmers & Artisans Market runs 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM April through June, then 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM July through September - Mabank extends to 2:00 PM on fifth Saturdays and from November through February - Midlothian extends to 3:00 PM in peak season - Cowtown Farmers Market adds a Wednesday from mid June to mid August on top of its Saturday hours
## Where the honest answer is "we do not know"
Nine markets in the directory carry no opening and closing time we could verify from the market itself: Cottage Farmers Market in Allen, Burleson, Bishop Bazaar in Dallas, Duncan Switch Street Market in Duncanville, Fort Worth Community Market, Frisco Rotary Farmers Market, and Marketplace on the Square and The Urban Market in Garland, plus Terrell Heritage Market. Several of these clearly operate, and The Urban Market's season notes do mention specific times for some months. We simply have no confirmed standing hours, and we would rather leave a gap than publish a guess. Richardson is a related case where two different sets of hours circulate, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
